Farewell My Friend
I look in your eyes and we both know
The time has come to let you go
To Say good-bye to my best friend
Our time together has come to end.
The light grows dim, the laughter seizes
I'm left with memories and my heart in pieces
As you leave this world go knowing that you,
Were loved as known by only a few.
If I get to heaven, you will be there
No human loved more, no human could care
To those who say you possess no soul,
A boxer dog they could not know.
The dreams were mine, for all you cared
Was pleasing me and the time we shared.
The ribbons are faded, the trophies all tarned.
Seem unimportant as now you are gone.
The house is so empty, no bark at the door
The toys which you played still remain on the floor.
To move them is too painful, that would be the end.
The final farewell to my four-legged friend.
Thank you my friend for all that you gave
The memories I'll cherish, the love I will save.
You never judged me, you loved with no strings
You asked for so little, only happiness to bring.
Times spent together I hold deep in my heart
Are precious possessions as now we're apart.
My heart is the place I can keep you near
The memories there remain, and I'll hold them so dear.
Go now my friend, go soar to the stars.
You'll remain in my heart so you'll never be far.
May God Bless you and keep you till the end of all time
And I thank him that for a short while you were mine.
